The xx
The xx, known for their eclectic sound mixing various genres and machine-backed rhythms, needed a special edition vinyl cover for their album I See You. The special edition needed to be recognizable in that it parallels the band’s common design, but captured the feeling of their lush, smooth vocals and melancholic tone.

To achieve the effect of the final cover art I used an etched vinyl adhered to plexi glass to create a “filter”. My handmade filter was then used with suspended letters spelling out the album title. The screen creates a foggy and literal “out of focus” image which I then used in the final cover design.
